Unity Sand Exchange

Hi everyone!

I have seen a lot of the blogs, I follow, posting projects they have done with vinyl today, so I thought I would share something I did with vinyl.

This is a project I made for my wedding last July, in Kapolei, Hawaii.

In Hawaiian wedding culture there are a lot exchanges that take place, such as a lei exchange, and an exchange of breath. I grew up in a Catholic household and having been to many weddings in the church one of the customs is to light a unity candle. In the Hawaiian culture, unity sand is the same concept, so since I wasn't getting married in a church but rather a beach in Hawaii I wanted to incorporate this idea.

Here is my take!

This is the glass container I found at Ben Franklin.

I wanted it to be something pretty, but also something with a lid that would stay closed, so the sand wouldn't get damaged.

It cost me a whole $4.09!

I also bought two glass mini vases to hold the sand to be poured into the container.

I decided to make it more special, so I added some of the ribbon and raffia I had used in my invitations.

Then I cut out the words Love on my cricut, but I can't remember what cartridge.

This is what I looked like at the wedding on the table before the ceremony began.

My sand is the purple one because I couldn't find burgundy sand, and my husbands was blue.

Here is us pouring the sand one by one into the container!

I love how it came out!

I'm glad we got to incorporate this cool exchange at our wedding!
